The Clermont-Ferrand Chemistry Institute was formed in 2012 by the merger of four CNRS-Blaise Pascal University mixed research units and one team from the School of Chemistry of Clermont-Ferrand:

- the Inorganic Materials Laboratory, LMI UMR 6002, headed by Res. Prof. Rachid Mahiou
- the Molecular and Macromolecular Photochemistry Laboratory, LPMM UMR 6505, headed by Res. Prof. Claire Richard
- the Laboratoty of Synthesis and Study of Systems of Biological Interest, SEESIB UMR 6504, headed by Res. Prof. Anne-Marie Delort
- the Molecular Interactions and Thermodynamics Laboratory, LTIM UMR 6272, headed by Prof. Agilio Padua
- the Laboratory of Design and Synthesis of Analgesic Molecules, CESMA, headed by Prof. Sylvie Ducky.
