Ionic liquids are a new class of fluids constituted of large organic ions. Their complex molecular structures and interactions lead to remarkable physico-chemical properties and to an enormous potential for applications in processes (synthesis, catalysis, separations) and devices (optical, batteries, lubrication).

Our approach combines experimental physical chemistry — through characterization of thermodynamics, structure and dynamics — with molecular simulation in order to provide insights on the systems and phenomena at the microscopic level.

The main research subjects are:
- absorption of gases in liquids
- ionic liquid/material interactions, material exfoliation
- dissolution of polymers in ionic liquids
- transport properties
- eutectic solvents
